Students discussed modern globalization issues

The student conference called 'Modern Globalization Issues' has been held at SPbU. Undergraduate and postgraduate students St. Petersburg State University, national Research University "Graduate School of Economics", North-West Institute of Management RPANEPA, St. Petersburg University of Cinematography and Television, Belgorod State University have taken part in this event.

The interdisciplinary character of such an issue as globalization made it possible for student of various fields to participate in the conference. There were young specialists in international relations, political scientists, economists, sociologists, orientalists, linguists, historians, psychologists, and legal students.
The North-West Institute of Management RPANEPA hosted the first day of the conference. It was devoted to social, cultural and economic aspects of globalization. Speakers discussed various issues ranging from cyber terrorism to globalization impact on the Russian television, from Russia-BRICS cooperation to e-trade.
SPbU hosted the second day of the conference. The speakers discussed the geopolitical threats of the 21st century as well as processes alternative to globalization.
There were reports devoted to border dynamics in the Middle East, geopolitical challenges in Latin America, UK policies within the framework of military and political alliances.
The second section participants presented reports dedicated to processes and projects that are alternative to globalisation. Reports on the "Russian world" concept sparked off a lively dispute. Both the speakers and the participants of the discussion agreed that, to become part of the "Russian world", one does not need to live in Russia or CIS countries. The main thing is to have a worldview characteristic of all the supporters of the "Russian world" idea.
