Russian-Polish scientific cooperation continues
This week in The School of International Relations turned out to be full of events. The students and staff had a wonderful opportunity to meet the colleagues from Italy, Poland, Germany, Korea, and the USA. However, it’s quite a common thing for the Bachelor’s and Master’s programme students of The School of International Relations of St. Petersburg State University. Nevertheless, you can’t stop being surprised at how enthusiastic the students of our School are.
The Atlantic College professor of the global environmental policy Doreen Stabinsky gave a public lecture. Being an expert in the field of climate change and its impact on agriculture, she gave a lecture on the role of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UN FCCC), pointing out that environmental issues should be addressed by means of international cooperation.
On April, 24 students and professors from Russia and Italy met to discuss the present state of Russian-Italian relations and assess the prospects of its further development in the global world. After having heard three plenary reports, the participants of the round table got separated to different sections for further discussion. The day before, on April, 23 the professors from two universities - St. Petersburg State University and the University of Wroclaw met within a framework of the Russian-Polish research seminar. SPSU maintains good fellowship with its Polish colleagues. In the current academic year the Ambassador of Poland in Russia Wojciech Zayonchkovsky gave a public lecture at St. Petersburg University, the presentation of the Polish magazine ‘New Europe’ was held, the almanac ‘Actual problems of world politics in the 21st century’ that is published annually by the Department of world policy was released owing to the professors of the Polish universities who had taken an active part in working on the issue.
During the seminar that took place April, 23 Russian international relations experts met their colleagues from the University of Wroclaw: Professors Marek Wroblewsky and Leszek Kwiecinsky, associate professors Jaroslav Jarzombek, Helena Geben and Renata Duda. The experts told about themselves and their scientific interests, presented various programs of the Wroclaw University and performed the reports on their scientific topics. The report ‘The EU’s Eastern policy - The Eastern Partnership Program’ has caused lively interest and fierce debate.
The discussion outlined the prospects of further cooperation between both universities in the academic and research areas.
