Strategic Studies Master Program invites the students to attend the lecture “Humanitarian Assistance: a challenge in a complex future” by Mr. Ton Strik. The lecture will give an overview of the field of humanitarian assistance and discuss the complexity of humanitarian operations. A theoretical lecture will be followed by an interactive workshop and a discussion.
The participants will get certificates of attendance.

On the lecturer:
When serving in the Royal Netherlands Army for 38 years, Mr Ton Strik has gathered extensive experience in peace support and humanitarian missions both in a national as well as in a NATO position. He also served as Advisor to the Netherlands Ambassador at NATO HQ, during which he participated in a workshop at the St.Petersburg University (2000). After retiring as Brigadier General in 2008 he became a professor on Humanitarian Assistance at the University of Applied Science in Leeuwarden (NLD) from 2008-2013. He is teaching on several UAS’s on issues related to humanitarian assistance and international security.
