20th Anniversary of the School of International Relations

Message by USG Tieffental to Int'l Relations Dept. of SPb University

President Emeritus and University Distinguished Professor Virginia Commonwealth University Eugene P. Trani

Dear Dean Irina Novikova,

It is a great pleasure to write to congratulate you and your colleagues on the 20th Anniversary Celebration of the School of International Relations at St. Petersburg State University.

It has been my privilege to work in collaboration with Dr. Boris Shiriaev and the School of International Relations for 20 years.  The partnership between Virginia Commonwealth University and St. Petersburg State University has been an excellent one, and I hope the partnership will continue for many years to come.

As an honorary professor of the School of International Relations, I wish that I could join you in person on this special occasion, but commitments at Virginia Commonwealth University and in Richmond, Virginia unfortunately prevent me from being able to do so.  Hence, I trust that this letter will convey my sincere appreciation for the outstanding faculty and student exchanges, the seminars and lectures, and the many other activities our institutions have shared over the years.

Again, congratulations, and best wishes for the future.

Best regards,

Eugene P. Trani
